More on the Exam
Candidates have three hours to complete the assessment. The passing grade for the NPPA is set at 70 per cent. Candidates achieving a passing grade will receive their CHRP designation. If you do not pass the NPPA, you can continue to take the exam and pay the required fee ($500.00* + GST) until a passing grade is attained. There is no limit to the number of times you can take the NPPA within the five year period after passing the NKE.
Please note: Those who do not pass the NPPA within five years of passing the NKE can no longer use the CHRP candidate title and will have to begin the certification process from the beginning. For more information on this process, please click here.
The National Professional Practice AssessmentTM is offered in the spring and fall of each year. Candidates must complete and submit a registration form to their provincial HR association at least 60 days prior to the scheduled exam date. Click here for dates of future exams. Information about specific times and locations where exams will be held is available through your provincial HR association.

Exam Fees
The cost of writing the NKE is $250* + applicable taxes.
The cost of writing the NPPA is $500* + applicable taxes.
Please note: To ensure that the NKE and NPPA continue to reflect current and future best practices in human resources, ongoing investments are required to validate and update these assessment processes.
Exam Dates and Application Deadlines
Normally, the NKE and NPPA are held the first Saturday in May and October of each year. Exceptions will be made when these dates coincide with a major holiday or holiday weekend. Exam dates are posted one year in advance of the day the exam is held.
Both exams are held concurrently from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Please check with your provincial HR association for the location, times and more information regarding upcoming exams.
The registration deadline for the next National Knowledge ExamTM and National Professional Practice AssessmentTM is March 2, 2007.
